The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating cornerback J ames Pierre for their Week 1 game against the New York Jets. Pierre will serve as a starting gunner on special teams and key cornerback depth.

Pierre joined the Steelers for his sixth season with the team after re-signing in March. In 2024, Pierre played in 15 games after being signed early in the season to bring special teams experience to the team.

All in all, he had one interception, two forced fumbles, and 23 tackles. He was in the top ten in the NFL in special teams tackles. This signing gives the Steelers, along with Ben Skowronek , both of their starting gunners back on the team.
