Consumers will be able to have their say on a national standard for airlines that cancel or delay flights from Monday.
Infrastructure and Transport Minister Catherine King has announced the beginning of consultation on the aviation consumer protection scheme, as part of a broader crackdown on airlines.
The scheme is expected to set national standards for what airline passengers are entitled to after a delay or cancellation, including determining a minimum level of assistance required.
The Albanese government believes that customers affected by delays and cancellations should be entitled to prompt rebookings, refunds and access to food and accommodation.
