Ty Simpson not only make a promise to Alabama football fans after the Crimson Tide's Week 1 loss to Florida State . He made a promise to his teammates.

The message remained similar. He apologized for his performance against the Seminoles. He felt he cost Alabama "a lot of points." And, moving forward, he planned to do whatever he could to make sure it didn't happen again.

Simpson wanted to be challenged as a player and as a leader to do "the little things" right, he said: To be vocal, to have high energy, to be the quarterback and the captain Alabama wanted him to be.
