Nottingham City Council is being told it has "no chance" of emptying a historic market anytime soon as its closure could be pushed into next year. Just five traders remain at the Victoria Centre Market, the history of which dates all the way back to the 12th century, as the city council begins to increase compensation offers to get them out.
The market, which has been based in the Victoria Centre since the 1970s, boasted hundreds of traders when it first opened. Nottinghamshire Live reported earlier in the year that the city council allegedly wanted the market completely empty by the end of October 2025 at the latest.
