NORFOLK, Va. — September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, and worldwide, it is the 10th most common cancer. It's also the reason why doctors are reminding everyone to look out for the symptoms, which can be, at times, vague.

"A lot of times people will think they have a bad infection, or something," said Dr. Julia Sheets, Riverside Cancer Specialists of Tidewater and Infusion Center. "People will come in asking for antibiotics, thinking they have the flu."

That's because symptoms can often present as flu-like symptoms. This includes extreme fatigue, weakness, fever, and night sweats.
