HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Police are investigating a hit-and-run in Hartford on Saturday night.

At around 7:30 p.m. first responders were called to the intersection of Albany Avenue and Chestnut Street after a report of a crash involving a pedestrian, fire officials said.

When crews arrived, they found a 79-year-old man that was lying in the roadway with serious injuries.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that the elderly man was struck by a car while he was trying to cross the street.

The suspected vehicle then fled the scene.

Police said the vehicle was a dark colored Honda with a misuse plate.

Good Samaritans helped the elderly man before EMS crews arrived.

Police are still investigating the incident.
