The 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain is set to be observed Sept. 14 in Sarnia.

The public is invited to attend a 11 a.m. ceremony being organized by Branch 62 of the Royal Canadian Legion at the Golden Hawks Sabre jet memorial at the west end of Germain Park.

More than 100 Canadians took part in the air battle fought over Great Britain in 1940 during the early days of the Second World War. During the battle, 23 Canadians lost their lives.
