LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A person is dead after being hit by a truck early Saturday morning.

LMPD officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle striking a person at the intersection of Palakta Road and Manslick Road, right near Iroquois Park.

Officers determined upon early investigation that the driver was a man in a pickup truck, travelling northbound on St. Andrews Church Road. The truck then struck a person who was wearing dark clothing while attempting to cross the street, disregarding the crosswalk.

The driver stopped and waited for EMS to arrive, where upon arrival, they pronounced the person dead on the scene.

LMPD says the driver is cooperating with our investigation. LMPD's traffic unit is handling the investigation.
