Brush Fire Near Lake Elsinore Now 95% Contained

Containment of a 55-acre brush fire in an unincorporated area near Lake Elsinore was at 95% Sunday, CalFire reported.

The fire was initially reported at 12:30 p.m. Saturday near the area of Crumpton Road and Highway 74, where crews reported smoke showing and the fire burning at a moderate rate of spread in medium fuels, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings and then all warnings were lifted, Cal Fire officials said at 7:50 p.m. Saturday.

Only eight firefighters remained at the scene Sunday, according to the fire department.

The cause of the fire was not known.
