SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame Fighting Irish moved up one spot in the latest Associated Press Top 25 college football poll , jumping from No. 9 to No. 8 after not taking the field during their bye week.

While the Irish didn’t play a game this weekend, they benefitted from Clemson’s not-so-remarkable win against Troy, as the Tigers dropped four spots in the poll after being ahead of Notre Dame last week.

The Irish, who are 0-1 on the season after falling at Miami last weekend , will have another top 20 matchup this upcoming Saturday as they welcome No. 16 Texas A&M to South Bend for their home opener.

As for other regional teams in the poll, Indiana is No. 22 (up one spot after win vs. Kennesaw State) and Michigan is ranked No. 23 (down eight spots after loss at Oklahoma).
