In the tale of two halves – the first completely dominated by Troy and the second by No. 8-ranked Clemson – it was the homestanding Tigers avoiding a major upset in winning 27-16 on Saturday.
Troy jumped out to a 16-0 lead and carried a 16-3 advantage to the locker room at halftime, but Clemson came out on fire in the second half to score two touchdowns in the first five minutes to take the lead and never look back.
Troy has given Clemson a major scare before on the Tigers’ home turf.
The last time the two teams met in 2016, the Trojans also came close to upsetting the home-standing Tigers before dropping a 30-24 decision.
