A guest on the Antiques Roadshow was 'genuinely flabbergasted' after being told the value of a vase he had bought by mistake for just £40.

The owner explained he had picked up the decorative vase at an antiques market, originally believing it to be a piece of Royal Lancastrian pottery.

After realising it wasn't, he hid it away under the kitchen sink for two years before remarkably spotting the same vase online.

Antiques Roadshow expert Steven Moore explained: "This is a beautiful vase, I'm almost lost for words because it is just glowing."

The owner explained: "It was a mistake. I was at an antiques fair and I bought it. I thought it was one thing and it wasn't."
