ZEELAND, Michigan — In a major economic victory for West Michigan, automation technology leader JR Automation has chosen Zeeland as the home for its new global headquarters, bringing a $72.8 million investment and 150 new jobs to the community.
The decision comes after JR Automation, owned by Japanese industrial giant Hitachi, evaluated multiple locations—including South Carolina—before settling on Zeeland. The announcement was made during Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's investment mission to Japan this week.
"This is huge for our community," said Zeeland Mayor Kevin Klynstra. "West Michigan has great potential to serve as a catalyst for smart manufacturing, and it starts with significant investments like this one."
