An off-duty Huntsville police officer was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence early Saturday morning.

According to a department spokesperson, the incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash at Church Street and Wheeler Avenue.

One driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The second driver, Huntsville Police Officer Scott Hartman, was off duty at the time of the crash.

Officers observed signs of impairment in Hartman, and he was arrested for DUI.

Hartman was released from the Madison County Jail on $1,000 bond.

According to departmental policy, he has been placed on administrative assignment.
