GROTON, Conn. — The Future USS IDAHO SSN 799 celebrated the grand opening of its ship's galley Thursday, Aug. 21, serving Idaho-inspired cuisine to mark a key milestone before the submarine's 2026 commissioning.

The Virginia Class, nuclear-powered fast attack submarine, currently under construction in Groton, Connecticut, will serve for more than 30 years once commissioned, sailing worldwide and hosting heads of state and dignitaries at various ports.

As the Future USS IDAHO continues rigorous exercises before next year's commissioning, sailors can now enjoy meals prepared aboard the submarine.
