TEXARKANA, Texas. (KTAL/KMSS) – Texas A&M University Texarkana (TAMUT) is another step closer to bringing college football to the city.

"It's going to be awesome for our university as well as our community. Watching this grow from scratch to what we think we're going to do is going to be awesome," says Ryan Wall, TAMUT athletic director.

At a press conference on Thursday, they announced that they have found a new home in Division II as a member of the Lone Star Conference as part of their transition up from the NAIA Division, just in time for the football team's inaugural season in 2027.

"There's a probation period, and we're trying to do the expedited route, which is 2 years, and then after that's up, we'll be a full-fledged Division II program in the Lone Star Conference, everywhere f
