A Duval County Public Schools staff member received counseling on proper document disposal protocols after confidential student records were found scattered across a Northwest Jacksonville intersection in July.

The incident, which involved dozens of school documents containing student names and at least one discipline referral from 2023, occurred near the intersection of 45th Street and New Kings Road.

In response to the incident, DCPS officials confirmed the documents were “inadvertently discarded without following the district’s procedures for disposal of secured documents.”
