New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll cracked open the door to a quarterback controversy that likely already existed after Sunday’s disappointing 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders. Daboll did so by refusing to say that Russell Wilson would be the team’s starting quarterback in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, leaving open the possibility the team could turn quickly to rookie Jaxson Dart.
“I mean, we’re just right here after the game,” Daboll said Sunday afternoon when asked if Wilson would be the starter against the Cowboys. “I have confidence in Russell. We’ve got to do better overall, coaches, players, everybody. So, we’ll get focused and ready to go on to Dallas.
Daboll was then given a second chance to declare Wilson the starter. He again did not given an unequivocal “yes.”
