MILLCREEK, Utah (KSTU) – A violinist in Utah who was targeted and detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement is speaking out about his experience.
John Shin was in Colorado for work on Aug. 18 when Department of Homeland Security agents met him at his hotel.
After being interrogated for 20 minutes, Shin said he was detained.
“I was in constant panic a little bit every night,” he said. “I wasn’t sure what was going to happen tomorrow or the following day.”
He said he was given a phone call before being detained, and he used it to talk to his wife, DaNae.
“It was a very short phone call to my wife, and it just, it was one of the worst moments in my life to hear my wife cry on her birthday,” Shin said.
His wife was left shocked on the other end of the phone.
