PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Authorities are searching for a couple accused of violently assaulting a hiker in Arizona.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is asking for the community's help in identifying the man and woman who they suspect were involved in the violent attack on a hiking trail at Granite Basin Lake on the morning of Sept. 7.

Two hikers encountered the couple while on Trail 261 around 8:45 a.m., YCSO said. The suspects were walking a large brown dog, and the four people had a brief conversation regarding the dog.

YCSO said after the conversation, the male suspect allegedly physically attacked one of the other hikers, punching him multiple times. When the second hiker attempted to intervene, the female suspect allegedly attacked her.
