DES MOINES, Iowa —

More than 100 classic and custom cars were showcased Sunday at the 25th annual Concours D'elegance in downtown Des Moines, held at the Pappajohn Sculpture Park.

The event concluded at 4 p.m. with the "Roar at 4," where all the cars fired up their engines simultaneously, drawing attendees from across the country.

One attendee traveled from Wyoming, sharing a personal connection to the event.

Ronald Muecke said his father discovered a 1937 REO Speed Delivery in a barn south of Cedar Rapids in the 1980s, and together they fully restored it in Iowa.

"So we pretty much found and restored, all in Iowa. So it's been kind of fun to be back in Iowa now in Des Moines for the concours," Muecke said.

The annual event raises money for the Children's Cancer Connection .
