CLAYTON, Mo. — This week will mark 24 years since the 9/11 terrorist attack. The Clayton Fire Department honored the first responders who lost their lives that day with a Memorial Stair Climb.

Throughout the powerful tribute on Sunday, bells could be heard in downtown Clayton. Every ringing of the bell represented a hero being honored.

"Sept. 11 is the day that nobody can ever forget," firefighter Carl Perkins said.

Charles Coghill, a Clayton firefighter and paramedic, said each step taken paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on that fateful day.
