BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Fire investigators say a woman has been arrested and charged with aggravated arson after a fire at a Baton Rouge motel early Sunday morning, Sept. 7.

According to the Baton Rouge Fire Department, crews were called to the Shed-Dran Motel on Greenwell Springs Road around 5:30 a.m. They found a small trash fire that had already been extinguished by motel occupants.

Investigators determined the fire had been intentionally set. Evidence at the scene led them to 36-year-old Angel Marie Barker, officials said.

During questioning, Barker admitted to setting a bag of paper on fire before leaving the property, according to BRFD. She was taken into custody and booked on one count of aggravated arson.
