Former New South Wales Supreme Court judge Anthony Whealy has commended Victorian Supreme Court Justice Christopher Beale for sentencing Erin Patterson to life in prison with a non-parole period of 33 years.
Patterson murdered three relatives of her estranged husband, and attempted to murder a fourth, by serving them a beef wellington meal laced with death cap mushrooms.
It is one of the longest ever prison terms handed down for a convicted woman in Australian history.
Justice Christopher Beale broke down each of the sentences to the court.
For the attempted murder of Ian Wilkinson, Patterson was sentenced to 25 years jail. For the murders of Heather Wilkinson, Gail and Don Patterson, Erin was sentenced to life in prison.
