You’ve got the wrong dog.

That’s the defense being made in two separate civil complaints in Pitkin County District Court, where the pets’ owners in both dog-attack lawsuits claim the instances are cases of mistaken identity.

In one case, Aspen resident Kathleen Bartlett alleges she was bitten on the hand by a hiking companion’s dog two summers ago. Bartlett’s complaint, filed June 17, says defendant Andrew Wiessner’s 60-pound mixed breed lunged without provocation while the two were taking a lunch break on the trail.
