Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor shared the "lovely" gift she's given to her son as they take on their biggest challenge yet.

The actress joined Coronation Street back in 1986 as Sally Metcalfe - then Webster - and has been a consistent face in Weatherfield ever since her debut.

However, 16 years ago her life changed when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, both on and off the ITV soap.

Her character found a lump on her breast and was later told she had breast cancer. Following the storyline, the actress found out she had the same condition while filming the heartbreaking scenes.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News , Sally recalled: "That was quite a shocking time for me because I was doing the script and Sally had cancer, but I had no knowledge that I had it.
