Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has issued an update on the possibility of her making an appearance in Brookside amid plans for the soap's return.

The actress, who is currently playing Cassie Plummer in ITV's Corrie, shot to fame playing Lindsey Corkhill in the defunct former Channel 4 show.

She initially joined as a recurring character from 1991 and then as a leading character from 1995. She was the daughter of already established regulars Jimmy and Jackie.

The soap star then starred in the Liverpool-based programme, set around a cul de sac, until the final episode was broadcast in November 2003.

However, it was recently revealed that the popular show is poised to make a comeback as part of an unprecedented crossover with Hollyoaks.
