LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Community and Technical College System has welcomed 70,325 students representing all 120 Kentucky counties.

Connor Griffith is attending Jefferson Community and Technical College for computer science. He said he had originally planned to go to a big university, but chose a different route.

“Before I came to college, I talked to my parents about it, and they’re still paying off loans from their college degrees. If I don’t have to take on large loans, why would I,” said Griffith.

Blair Hess, KCTCS vice president of communications and marketing, said the college system is seeing a shift in values among families across the country.
