CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A deadly stabbing on the light rail in Charlotte's South End is receiving national attention, with President Donald Trump discussing the incident.
Trump was asked about the stabbing at an appearance in Maryland on Sunday. He said he wasn't aware of the situation but said it was horrible.
"I'll know all about it by tomorrow," Trump said when asked if he had seen the video. The conversation followed Trump's discussion about crime in Chicago and Washington, as well as the National Guard's deployment to those cities.
Iryna Zarutska, 23, was stabbed and killed on the LYNX Blue Line on Aug. 22 near the light rail station along Camden Road, where East Boulevard and West Boulevard meet in South End. Decarlos Brown is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing.
