VIRGINIA, USA — Gov. Glenn Youngkin ordered on Monday that U.S. and Virginia flags be flown at half-staff on Tuesday in honor of former Del. John Alfred Cox, who represented the 55th District in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2010 to 2014. His family said Cox passed away at the age of 80 on August 28.
Youngkin’s directive calls for flags on all state and local buildings and grounds across the Commonwealth to be lowered at sunrise on Tuesday, Sept. 9, and remain at half-staff until sunset.
Cox, a Republican from Hanover County, was remembered in the governor’s order as a dedicated public servant who “faithfully represented” his constituents and “dedicated his life to serving his community and the Commonwealth.”
