For the second consecutive week, we've got a new No. 1 in our Class 5A in Iowa high school football rankings.

With the previous No. 1 West Des Moines Valley losing to Waukee Northwest, teams we have ranked No. 1 in Class 5A heading into Friday nights are 0-2 on the year. Is it a curse to be ranked No. 1 in the Class? Or is it just this competitive? It's only Week 2 , so there's plenty of time to figure that out, but things got a bit clearer across the state and classes after our second full week of IHSAA football action.
