The Town of Small Point-Broad Cove-Blackhead-Adam’s Cove said thank you to the Red Cross volunteers who helped them during the wildfire situation with a special helping of jiggs dinner over the weekend.

The town has felt the devastating impacts of forest fires twice this year.

The first was when a fast moving blaze back in May destroyed 12 homes and 38 other structures, and then again in August during the powerful CBN wildfire that forced many from their homes and decimated entire areas.

In both of those instances Red Cross volunteers were on hand to help people deal with the situation.

A post to social media shows people from the town serving up plates of jiggs dinner for the volunteers, and a cake with “thank you Red Cross from (the) people of CBN” written in icing.
