Premier John Hogan has just over a week left to call a provincial election.

The fixed election date in Newfoundland and Labrador is October 14, and the minimum length of an election in 28 days.

That means Hogan has until next Tuesday to drop the writ.

Rumours have been swirling for months about when the election will be called, with recent indications being it could be happen as early as today.

Some provincial election signs have already started popping up around the province.

Both PC leader Tony Wakeham and NDP leader Jim Dinn have been busy making campaign announcements over the last week.

While the governing Liberals haven’t made any formal campaign promises yet, there have been a number of news conferences and news releases about funding over the last few weeks.
