LEXINGTON, Ky. — With parades, live music and performances from regional and touring artists, the 36th annual Roots & Heritage Festival returned to Lexington over the weekend, celebrating African culture in central Kentucky.
Sunday brought vendors from around the world, giving them a chance to share their cultural products with Kentuckians.
Vendor Roland Ngong said it was his sixth time participating in the event and being part of the only African American festival in central Kentucky gave him a chance to showcase his handcrafted products.
“I got a good customer base out here,” Ngong said. “They come out here to support me and buy my products all the time. Roots is a great festival; the people here are lovely.”
