OSTEGO COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - Troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gaylord Post responded to the Pigeon River State Forest to help locate a missing 36-year-old woman from California.
The woman, a contestant in a YouTube survival challenge, had become lost on September 5 but was not reported missing until 5 a.m. on September 6.
A search effort was initiated, and the MSP Canine Unit entered the forest, which remains damaged from a recent ice storm. The MSP Aviation Unit was also activated, and Trooper 6 responded to the scene.
At approximately 10:40 a.m., Trooper 6 located the missing woman and guided the Canine Unit to her location.
Law enforcement officers and firefighters were then able to escort her safely out of the woods.
