There has been a rash of violent robberies committed at cannabis stores throughout Calgary in the last few years, despite a regulatory change in 2022 that was supposed to curb such crimes.
And according to police, many of the recent perpetrators have been youth.
In late August, the Calgary Police Service issued a news release after two separate armed robberies were committed at cannabis outlets in the city’s northwest.

The first occurred Aug. 13, when two male suspects, believed to be teenagers, entered Tower Cannabis at 159 Carrington Plaza N.W. Police believe the suspects wore face coverings and assaulted the store’s employee while threatening him with a firearm.
The second robbery occurred on Aug. 20 at Canna Cabana, locate
