LAS VEGAS – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Monday's official Dana White's Contender Series 81 fighter weigh-ins, where one fighter missed his mark on the scale – badly.
For the fifth event of the season, 10 fighters will vie for UFC contracts in their fights, including American heavyweights Anthony Guarascio (3-0) and Steven Asplund (5-1), who headline the show. Asplund will have a nearly 30-pound weight advantage based on their Monday numbers on the scale.
Only light heavyweight Freddy Vidal (3-0) missed the mark for his fight against Felipe Franco (8-0). Vidal was the last fighter to weigh in and was 210 pounds, a full four pounds north of the non-title limit. Franco was two pounds under at 204. The fight will take place at a catchweight and Vidal will be fined a percentage of his purse.
The weigh-ins took place at the UFC host hotel in Las Vegas. The UFC Apex hosts Tuesday's card, which streams on ESPN+.
