Point Douglas resident calls for police transparency

I was dismayed and deeply disturbed by the Chief of Police’s response to Marty Gold’s report As a Point Douglas resident, I expected leadership to address concerns with openness and accountability. Instead, the Chief’s letter criticized a journalist for voicing questions the public had already asked— and received no answers on.

I was privy to some of the letters sent to Inspector Peters last week. While my own letter was not quoted, Marty Gold’s article reflected many of the same concerns residents raised. When the Chief accuses a reporter of making a “personal attack,” it dismisses the reality that those words came from the people themselves. He is not attacking — he is relaying.

The double standard is glaring. Ea
