Veidekke has been commissioned by Akademiska Hus to complete a full renovation of the Zoologen building in Gothenburg. The project is a design and build contract with an estimated total cost of approximately NOK 315 million. Occupancy of the building is expected to start in fall 2026.

Outside, the look of the building will change completely, and inside, Akademiska Hus is planning 15 fully renovated laboratory and office spaces ranging from 100 m 2 to 850 m 2 , and featuring complete laboratory infrastructure. In addition, the project includes a lunch café with a shared dining hall, as well as meeting rooms and a gym. The project emphasises sustainability and reuse, and materials from the old building have been collected by kindergartens and schools for their reuse.
