A 9-year-old student was taken into custody for carrying a gun while riding a school bus on Monday, according to the Ocala Police Department.

Police said they found a loaded .38 caliber revolver on the floor near the student's seat. The student was then taken into custody.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and all other students on the bus were unharmed.

Detectives said the student took the gun without permission from a relative's secured bedroom. The student admitted to officials that he had taken the weapon the day prior and hid it in his clothing.
