Thomas Jay Smith, arrested in March as part of an online sting operation conducted by the Flagstaff Police Department and partner agencies, was sentenced to three years in state prison on Friday, Aug. 29.

Smith, 50, pleaded guilty in July to a single count of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, a Class 3 felony. He was arrested after conversing with a fake profile on an adult personals website and driving to the Flagstaff Mall to meet with someone he believed to be 15 years old. Copy article link
