A 30-year-old man who died after being found with severe head and body trauma on the Bronx’s Major Deegan Expressway was struck by a driver who fled but later returned to the scene, cops said Monday.
The dying victim was discovered on the expressway near Mosholu Parkway about 2 a.m. Sunday, cops said.
Medics rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital but he could not be saved. His name was not immediately released.
Cops were initially unsure how the man died but later determined the 23-year-old driver of a 2024 Toyota BZ4X was heading north on the Mosholu Parkway when he struck the victim, who was in the roadway near the Major Deegan Expressway underpass.
The driver fled but later returned and has not been charged as police continue to investigate.
