Megan Moroney took home the first-ever country music award at the VMAs.

She was up against Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, and more for the fan-voted award.

Megan later took the stage to perform during the broadcast.

The VMAs aired on MTV last night, and the show honored country music for the first time ever with a category dedicated to the genre. If you tuned in to the broadcast to see the announcement, you may have been left scratching your head, because the award was handed out before the show even began.
