Tennessee State fell 59-3 to defending FCS champion North Dakota State, but showed resilience in the lopsided loss.
Bright spots: RB Kendric Rhymes led with 43 rushing yards, Byron Davis recorded TSU’s first interception of the season, and the defense held NDSU to just 191 rushing yards and 3-of-9 on third downs. The Tigers managed a fourth-quarter field goal to avoid the shutout.
Looking ahead: TSU (1-1) hosts Alabama A&M next week at 3:30 p.m. in the Legacy Series – a much more winnable matchup after facing the defending national champions.
While the score was brutal, limiting a championship-caliber rushing attack and forcing turnovers shows that this Tigers team can compete against more comparable opponents.
