The City of Hamilton is responding to a “major” water main break near Grace and Dunn avenues that flooded streets and affected homes in the area.

Emergency services were called to the area, near Woodward Avenue and Nikola Tesla Boulevard, for flooding around 2:20 a.m.

Woodward Avenue was closed, south of Eastport Drive in the area for several hours. All roads were open by 8:30 a.m.

There is no damage to the road, only some mud and debris on nearby streets as a result of the break, said Dave Alberton, manager of capital delivery. The city is aware of property flooding, but it is unknown how many properties have been affected.

City crews remain on site Monday and all homes have water service.

Repairs are anticipated to be finished by 7 a.m. Tuesday.
