Despite an overall positive perception of the healthcare field, generational opinions differ, particularly in terms of communication style and career planning, according to the results of “ Addressing today’s healthcare workforce challenges: Results from a national study ,” done by WellSky.

The study consisted of approximately 1,200 participants, including 400 nurses, 400 healthcare workers and 400 workers open to a career in healthcare. Results were gathered in March 2025.

While Gen Z workers are more likely to seek career growth opportunities than older employees, they are less likely to voice their concerns in the workplace at 85%, compared with 94% of Gen X and 93% of Millennials.
