$83 Million Defamation Judgment Against Trump in E. Jean Carroll Case Upheld By Appeals Court

President Donald Trump is still on the hook for the $83.3 million jury award to writer E. Jean Carroll.
On Monday, a three-member federal appeals court panel upheld the award against the president for defaming Carroll after she accused him of sexual assault in the 1990s.
Trump was found liable in 2023 of sexually abusing Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room. Separately, a jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages for the incident. That decision was upheld on appeal.
