A BASEBALL fan was forced to issue a statement after being wrongly identified as the viral Phillies supporter.

The fan was inundated with messages after being wrongly identified.

Cheryl Richardson-Wagner released a statement on Facebook this weekend.

"I'm NOT the crazy Philly Mom," she wrote.

"But I sure would love to be as thin as she is and move as fast.

"And I'm a Red Sox fan."

The identity of the fan who confronted a dad over a home run ball remains a mystery.

The woman - dubbed "Phillies Karen" by internet users - demanded the father hand over the ball.

The whole incident was captured by NBC Sports Philadelphia and immediately went viral.
