Erin Patterson was sentenced to life in prison Monday for murdering three of her husband’s family members with poisonous mushrooms in Australia.
Patterson, 51, will be eligible for parole after 33 years behind bars.
“Only you know why you committed [the murders] . I will not be speculating about that matter,” Judge Christopher Beale said during the sentencing hearing at Victoria state Supreme Court in Melbourne.
Patterson was convicted in July of murdering Don and Gail Patterson and Heather Wilkinson with a deadly meal of beef Wellington back in July 2023. The Pattersons were the parents of her estranged husband, Simon, and Wilkinson was Gail Patterson’s sister.
