The smoke testing will begin on Monday and continue through September 26. The testing involves opening and entering sewer manholes in streets and public utility easements. A special non-toxic smoke will be used, which leaves no residuals or stains and does not affect plant or animal life.
Residents are advised that smoke entering their homes or businesses indicates potential sewer gas entry, which can be unpleasant and dangerous. If smoke enters a building, occupants should contact a member of the smoke testing crew for assistance.
